Electoral Commission of South invites all suitable unemployed individuals to apply for available Counting Officers jobs opportunities.
Purpose
To assist the Electoral Matters department with material reconciliation, ballot verification, counting of votes and finalisation of results of the election.
Duties and responsibilities
- Verification of special votes
- Assist with the general coordination of the counting and results recording processes
- Assist with the counting of votes
- Assist with the reconciliation of election materials issued, ballot papers utilised and special votes casted.
- Exercise the powers and perform the duties assigned by the manager.
Skills and competencies
- Must be an experienced mathematician, have financial reconciling and accounting skills, or
working with numbers experience - Must be proficient in any of the local languages of the area
- Must demonstrate proven ability to work well under
pressure and meet tight and demanding deadlines - Must demonstrate tact and good people skills in dealing with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Must be willing to undergo training and must be available for the event
- Must demonstrate professionalism and impartiality at all times
- Must be computer literate
- Data capture experience will be advantageous
Minimum requirements
- Must be an SA citizen
- Must be a registered voter
- In the last five years must not have held political office or been a candidate in an election or have been politically active for a political party or campaigning for a political party
- In the last five years must not have been elected to office in an organisation that has party political affiliations or aims
- Must not contest the current elections or be an agent in the elections
- Must not have been convicted of serious criminal
offence(s) - Must have a valid bank account and must be a
registered taxpayer with SARS
